TEAM run
Ashley and I had the pleasure of running our 6 miles this week together! The weather and location were perfect. Green Lake is a beautiful area I had never been in Seattle. The people watching while running was also amazing!
We then treated ourselves! :)

Food for thought and body
Completed Murakami's memoir today. Here is one of my favorite excerpts:
"Thus the seasons come and go, and the years pass by. I'll age one more year, and probably finish another novel. One by one, I'll face the tasks before me and complete them best I can. Focusing on each stride forward, but at the same time taking a long-range view, scanning the scenery as far ahead as I can. I am, after all, a long-distance runner."
To help provide a boost to the daily running, I just mixed up a batch of Direct Fuel Bites - a high glucose recipe that is quick and easy to prepare.
Mix the following in a food processor, scoop out Tbl size bites and wrap in plastic for use throughout the week.
5 dates
2 Tbl coconut oil
2 tsp lemon zest
1 tsp lemon juice
Sea salt to taste
I also add 1 tsp of carob powder
The Thrive Performance Diet link has a lot of information on the types of food to fuel performance; percentage of fat, protein, carbs etc.

Crow Roost
Every evening before sunset, the crows in Vancouver fly eastward
toward their roost in Burnaby. That is what I was running with today! :)
They are really loud and I managed to not gt pooped on. :)

Music that Moves You
Blog just got a soundtrack (hit pause if you are a Rocky hater). Speaking of motivational workout tunes, I found a website that matches Beats Per Minute (BPM) to your target running pace and then creates a playlist... what the what! Here are a bunch of playlists you can buy from itunes: Jog FM Playlists
Did 5 miles to Ballard Farmer's Market then immediately ate a Czech Poppy Roll and chugged a coffee! On to Week 3!!

5 Miles Down!
So today I did my first 5 mile run! It felt great! The first mile my shins hurt and then they didn't. I had no cramps and the view was GREAT!
I ran from the Science Center to the Burrad Bridge. I am really lucky that I live is such a beautiful city! I may be starting to like this running thing.

2 Down - 2 to go!
Second week of training and 2 runs under my feet. The 2 miles today was not easy! I am not sure why the 2 2miles runs have been my hardest. Today I think I got a breathing cramp. It was right in left chest. I stopped and stretched and caught my breath. I felt okay after that but still had a slight pain.
I will try again on Friday! Thursday is yoga day. :)
